Shillong

Shillong - The Capital City Of Meghalaya

Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya, is also acclaimed as the Scotland of the East by the British rulers. Shillong was made the civil headquarter of the Khasi and Jaintia Hills by the British in 1864. The climate of this beautiful hill station is much cooler than tropical India. It is surrounded by enchanting natural ornaments - mesmerizing hilly terrains, mist-covered valleys, unique waterfalls, lush greeneries, primitive lakes, spiral trails, and many more. The hill town offers a number of attractions in and around Shillong.

Some of the worth-visiting places in Shillong are Elephant Falls, Ka Phan Nonglait Park, Ward’s Lake, Shillong Golf Course, Wankhor Entomological Museum, Chrysalis the Gallery, Umiam Lake, Shillong Viewpoint, and more.

What makes it beautiful is also the presence of many more scenic places that surround the area. The small cabs mostly make up the taxi population of Shillong and you would have to hire one to visit any wonders around Shillong. There are numerous sightseeing around and also has few of the most iconic heritage schools here making it the education hub of the Northeast.

It must be noted that rainfall is very much common here and you would wish to reach here when the weekly weather forecast would predict it to be clear and sunny.

Doesn’t it look exciting, already?
